Did You Know?

In the video “Did You Know?”created by Karl Fisch is a bunch of facts about technology and how it is advancing and creating jobs for people to study about and find a career in.The video is on TeacherTube.com.

After watching the video many quotes caught my attention. The first quote that caught my attention was “2006 college graduates, 1.3 million in U.S; 3.1million in India; 3.3 million in China.” This amazed me that there were more college graduates in China than the U.S. This made me realize that not many Americans continue their education.

The second quote that caught my attention was “In 10 years it is predicted that the number one English speaking country in the world will be…China”. This is crazy that China is gonna be the #1 english speaking country. This means if they’re number one were will the U.S be.

The third and final quote that caught my attention was  “There are more than 540,000 words in the English Language…about five times as many as during Shakespeare’s time.” This just shows that our English has evolved as the years went by. It is just amazing how many words we have in the English language and how every word has a meaning.

RSS Aggregator is the name!

RSS and Aggregators. What are they exactly? Well the word aggregator comes from the word aggregate which means  to bring together or collect into one sum, mass, or body. The definition was found at http://dictionary.reference.com/. So this means an aggregator is someone who gathers the  information. What is RSS? RSS are feeds on a website that check for any updates or changes. Finally a RSS aggregators is a person who collects information on updates on the website and notifies subscribers. This tool and others web 2.0 tools are important today because they help you by organizing the most important things that you wish to know like current events and weather. One who sets up an aggregator has the advantage of getting the updates of their favorite blogs the second they are updated. Setting up a RSS aggregator is simple, all that you have to do is setup an account. Some aggregators include Google Reader, netvibes, and Bloglines. If you already have a google account all you have to do is sign in on Google Reader. Then again you can also create an account at one of the following. Once you have created an account just go to your favorite websites and look for the subscribe button which might look like the following:

These buttons can be found either on the top or bottom of the page or the left or right side of the page. usually the button is the same like the ones posted above and don’t change in look. So take my advice and try a RSS Aggregator.

Picnik Review

Picnik.com is an on-line photo shop, it’s free and easy. It can be used to fix your photos by removing red eye, fixing underexposed photos and adding effects to photos as well. It can create amazing photos and easy access to the tool with out the hassle of installing it . The most amazing features of Picnik that impressed me the most is how easy it is to use. It was simple, it works in steps, which makes it fast and easy. First upload your photo then edit it from the color to cropping and resizing. Also you are able to save it on your computer and share it on Myspace, Face book, or you can e-mail it.  Picnik could improve their product by giving more editing options. Also just keeping the options updated. This program is exactly like photo shop ,but the simple version. It is free all that required is that you create an account.Picnik offers a more advanced version but for a price.  There are some photo editors those who involve installing them which cost for 40 to 60 dollars for a program that my be complicated and probably not install properly and end up not working. So in my opinion Picnik should get two thumbs up and I’m not alone. Check what some others had to say. Here’s one review about Picnik.

Here is what I did by using Picnik. In the end I think Picnik gets to thumbs up because it’s simple easy and FREE!!!!
